In real life (whatever that means) I am attempting to conjure up a simulated Agnes in the material sense. I’m working on a canvas of 72″ x 72″, the same size as Night Sea. It represents the physical reach of Agnes. Not having worked on this scale for such a long time, I am struck by how much of the body is involved in making a piece like this. I’d forgotten how it influences your mood, your level of immersion in the work, as well as the mental stamina needed in persevering with an unwieldy and demanding medium.
This feels so romantic, my heart aches…This is so mechanical and repetitive I’m dying inside.
So far I’ve only encountered Agnes in the digital realm.
Again I’m asking what would happen if I could go and visit Night Sea in San Francisco and look for Agnes there.
